We repair and replace Viking keypads and intercom panels across Dallas, and we keep the most common Viking-compatible parts on our trucks so the fix usually happens in one visit. A keypad swap typically runs $185 to $340 installed; a full intercom panel replacement runs $290 to $520 depending on the model and wiring condition. Most Dallas homeowners call us after the keypad starts ignoring certain digits, or the intercom goes silent on one side of the conversation. Tell me what it’s doing and what it stopped doing – that’s usually ninety percent of the diagnosis right there.
Which Viking Models This Applies To
We service the Viking E-Series and G-Series access control keypads, plus the Viking C-1000, C-200, and C-250 intercom door stations. Viking has made these panels in both flush-mount and surface-mount housings, and the wiring harness changed enough between the older C-1000 and the newer C-200 that a part listed as “universal” won’t always seat correctly. If you can open the panel and read the model label inside the housing, that saves a trip. We carry genuine Viking OEM parts when the panel is under warranty, and for out-of-warranty gear we offer quality aftermarket equivalents that match the mounting footprint and voltage specs. Portcullis Gate Repair Dallas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Viking Access Controls, but our technicians work on these panels weekly and know which aftermarket boards hold up in North Texas heat.

Signs Your Viking Keypad & Intercom Is Failing
- Certain digits won’t register. The carbon contacts under the keypad face wear unevenly, so the “3” and “7” keys often die first because they sit closest to the edge where moisture creeps in. That’s a worn keypad membrane, not a programming issue.
- The keypad beeps but the gate doesn’t move. That means the keypad is sending a signal, but the relay on the control board isn’t closing. We see this most often after a Dallas storm when a power surge takes out the relay without killing the whole board.
- Static or one-way audio on the intercom. The speaker cone on Viking door stations sits behind a small grille, and after five or six Texas summers the cone stiffens and cracks. You’ll hear the visitor but they won’t hear you, or vice versa.
- The panel works intermittently. Loose screw terminals on the back of the panel are the usual culprit. The temperature swings between a Dallas afternoon and night expand and contract the metal enough to back the screws out a quarter turn.
- No lights, no beep, nothing. You’ve lost low-voltage power to the panel. Sometimes it’s a failed transformer at the operator; sometimes it’s a chewed wire where squirrels got into the conduit. Both are fixable, but you want a tech who tests voltage before ordering a new panel.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Dallas, a Viking keypad replacement runs $185 to $340 installed, and a Viking intercom panel replacement runs $290 to $520 installed. The spread depends on whether your existing panel is flush-mount (more labor to pull and reseat cleanly) or surface-mount, whether the wiring harness survived, and whether you need an OEM Viking board or a quality aftermarket equivalent. Every quote includes the part, labor, wiring cleanup, and a full function test at the gate. You get the price in writing before any work starts, and the repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. The written guarantee is stamped on your invoice, not spoken and forgotten.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: verify the breaker for the gate operator is on, wipe the keypad face with a dry cloth to rule out dirt on the contacts, and look for corroded wire nuts at the panel. Low-voltage access control work won’t kill you the way a garage spring can, but you can absolutely fry a $200 Viking board by probing the wrong terminal with a multimeter set to the wrong range. The most common DIY failure we clean up is a homeowner who bought a generic keypad online, discovered the wiring harness didn’t match, and stripped the old harness trying to force it. By the time we arrive, a 90-minute job is now a three-hour rewiring project. If you’re in Dallas and you’d rather not spend an afternoon on a ladder muttering at stripped screws, call us at (325) 225-5440 and we’ll bring the right part the first time.
FAQs
A Viking keypad membrane typically lasts 4 to 7 years in North Texas, and the intercom speakers last about the same before the cone stiffens. Direct afternoon sun on a west-facing gate in Dallas shortens that to the lower end, because the UV breaks down the plastic face faster than the electronics wear out.
Sometimes, yes. If the failure is a loose terminal, a bad relay on a socketed board, or a corroded wire connection, we can repair it on the spot for less than a full replacement. But a worn keypad membrane or a cracked speaker cone isn’t repairable in any lasting way, so we’ll tell you plainly when replacement is the honest call. Call (325) 225-5440 and describe what the panel is doing – we’ll give you a straight read before we ever schedule the truck.
Most Viking keypad replacements take 45 to 90 minutes from arrival to function test. An intercom panel swap runs 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on flush-mount removal and whether we need to pull new low-voltage wire. We’ll give you a real arrival window when you book, and we show up in it.
We stock Viking-compatible keypads, the most common intercom door station models, relays, transformers, and wiring connectors on our service vehicles. If your panel is an unusual flush-mount size or a discontinued Viking model, we’ll order the correct replacement and return within a few days. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems, which comes in handy when a Dallas property has more than one gate operator brand on site.
