Meet the Dallas Team Behind Portcullis Gate Repair Dallas

The crew that answers your call in Dallas isn’t a rotating cast of subcontractors. It’s the same handful of faces, week after week, working out of the same trucks and carrying the same written Kingswell Guarantee pads. We service every corner of the metro, from Highland Park iron driveway gates to chain-link perimeter fences in Garland, Mesquite, and Duncanville. What unites us is simple: we believe a gate should open when you press the button and close behind you without a fight. Every technician on this page is background-checked, uniformed, and trained across nine gate-operator brands, including LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. Here’s who shows up.

Our People

Dean Prescott, Owner

Dean founded Portcullis Gate Repair Dallas in 2008 as a Kingswell company, and he still takes calls about stubborn actuators and misbehaving photo eyes most days. He’s been the one kneeling in a wet driveway at 10 p.m. with a voltmeter more times than he can count, which is why the Kingswell Guarantee reads the way it does: written price first, written guarantee on the invoice, free return visit if the repair fails within 365 days. Dean’s favorite diagnostic line is that a gate that hums but won’t move “has opinions, not power.” He lives in East Dallas and has been known to point out which neighborhood gates were welded by someone who should’ve stayed in plumbing.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has twelve years in gate repair across Texas, and before that he worked on commercial loading dock systems, which taught him to respect a motor that outweighs a small car. He’s our specialist on Viking and DoorKing slide-gate operators, the heavy cantilevered ones you see at industrial lots and HOA entrances. Marcus holds manufacturer certifications from FAAC and LiftMaster and can rebuild a failing gearbox on-site when the parts allow it. He drinks his coffee black, even in August, and says any gate problem in Dallas is either a bad capacitor or a bad day for whoever installed the conduit.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena came to us from new residential construction, which means she notices things no one else does: a gate post set half an inch out of plumb, a hinge welded upside down, a control box mounted where sprinkler overspray will eat it within two years. She handles full gate installations across Dallas, from modern horizontal-slatted gates in Lakewood to traditional wrought-iron driveway gates in Preston Hollow. Elena is certified on BFT and Ghost Controls systems and tends to carry a torque wrench in her back pocket like it’s a pen. She’ll walk you through the operator settings after an install and leave the job site cleaner than the landscapers did.

Sam W., Service Coordinator

Sam is the voice on the phone when you call (325) 225-5440 at 2 a.m. because your gate is stuck open and your dog has noticed. He’s been dispatching for trade companies in DFW since 2014 and can tell a capacitor failure from a broken limit switch just by the way a caller describes the noise. Sam keeps the schedule moving, lines up the written price approval before a truck rolls, and makes sure every work order lists the gate-operator brand so the technician walks in knowing the system. He’s a Richardson native, a devoted amateur pitmaster, and the reason our arrival windows actually match reality.

Diego M., Apprentice Technician

Diego is three years into his apprenticeship and already carries his own service bag. He works alongside Marcus on most slide-gate jobs and has developed a knack for tracing low-voltage wire paths through old stone columns without drilling a single unnecessary hole. He’s currently completing manufacturer training for Linear and Mighty Mule operators, and he’s the guy who double-checks every safety photo eye alignment before we declare a repair done. Diego grew up near White Rock Lake and once repaired a gate sensor that had been shorting out every time the Oak Cliff sprinkler system ran, a fix that took six visits to diagnose and one dry afternoon to solve.

One Standard, Every Job

Every Portcullis location is independently owned and operated, but none of us get to drift from the Kingswell Way. That means five commitments on every single job, whether it’s a simple hinge adjustment in a Carrollton backyard or a full slide-gate replacement at a Far North Dallas commercial lot. We say the price before the work starts, in writing. We show up in the window we gave you. We leave the place cleaner than we found it. We put the guarantee in writing on the invoice, covering the repair for 365 days with a free return visit if it fails. And we come back if it fails. Not because a franchise agreement says so. Because Dean signs his name to it, and so does every tech on this page.
